TRi [Standing Assistance and Work Support Robots]
“TRi” is a wheelchair type movement support robot developed by MICOTO Technology (Formerly known as Tmsuk R&D inc.). In February 2015, the project team composed of members of Tottori University Hospital (Rehabilitation Department, Next-Generation Advanced Medicine Promotion Center), doctors, physicians, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists of Yowa Hospital, as well as members of supporting businesses launched the project with the aid of the Tottori Industrial Promotion Organization. Based on the wheelchair type movement support robot “RODEM,” which was originally developed by tmsuk Co., Ltd. (Based in Munakata City), the team added an upright functionality and manufactured the first prototype, “Tri” in February 2016 and it is currently undergoing clinical trials.
- ●Ease of Transfer
In contrast to traditional wheelchairs, the users does not need to twist their body from their bed or wheelchair in order to get on the TRi, as they are capable of riding the chair while facing forward. (Decreases burden for the helper and increases independence for the user)
- ●Eye Level While Moving
With the seat’s height adjustment functionality, the eyes are at a higher level compared to when seated on traditional wheelchairs, and the users can share a similar sense of distance as an able-bodied person.
- ●Working in an Upright Position
The seat can be placed in an upright position to enable standing work for the users.
In Various Workplaces
We visualize our users coming to their workplace on a traditional wheelchair and transferring to TRi to start working. They are now able to reach places that were unreachable and work in an upright position. The users can display products on a high shelf, operate a cash register at the store, and make copies at the office. TRi will allow the users to share the same eye level with their coworkers and widen the breadth of their scope of work.
